Current Active Pharmacy Design Projects at Bernstein & Associates, Architects

Pharmacy programming, pharmacy planning, pharmacy design, and pharmacy construction management are specialties of Bernstein & Associates, Architects. 

Since its founding in 1990, Bernstein & Associates, Architects has designed over (40) pharmacies for hospitals and private owners across the United States. Below is a standard suite of Pharmacy Compounding Facility Design Services commonly provided by our firm. The list can be expanded or reduced, depending on client/project requirements.

Pharmacy Compounding Facility Development

Pharmacy architect Bernstein & Associates, Architects recommends that at the outset of each project, that we sit down with the client and identify project goals, including clinical priorities, budget, schedule and phasing (if any). Equipment planning services offered in this phase include:

• Initial Strategy and Program Meeting

• Develop Equipment Master Plan. Addressing Clinical Priorities, Budget, Schedule and Phasing

• Technology Assessment

• Develop Overall Equipment Plan

Assess Existing Pharmacy Compounding Equipment

A common requirement in the development of an Equipment Plan is to evaluate the current equipment. Pharmacy architect Bernstein & Associates, Architects audits existing equipment systems, to evaluate what should be kept in service (and for how long) vs. what should be replaced. Existing equipment assessment services include the following:

• Identify Master List of Existing Equipment

• On Site Evaluation of Each Equipment Item

• Evaluate Condition/Functionality of Equipment

• Make Recommendation for Maintain or Replace Existing Equipment

During this phase, pharmacy architect Bernstein & Associates, Architects monitors the job for conformance to the drawings and specs, reviews and responds to Requests for Information (RFI's), submittals and shop drawings, and attends job site meetings and does walk throughs of the construction site.

Pharmacy Compounding Facility Project Close Out

Bernstein & Associates, Architects oversees the successful close out of the project including:

a.) warranties

b.) as-built drawings

c.) final release of lien

d.) maintenance and operations manuals

e.) all close outs from DOB and other agencies

f.)  all overages

g.) completion of all punchlist items

New USP 797 Hospital Pharmacy Design Projects in New York

New USP 797 Hospital Pharmacy Design Projects in New York

Pharmacy design architect Bernstein & Associates, Architects (http://bernarch.com/healthcare-design-pharmacy/) is pleased that it has been awarded six new pharmacy design projects in the state of New York.

All six of the pharmacy projects will involve redesign and/or expansion of existing hospital pharmacies to address compliance with USP 797 and USP 800. Additionally some of the projects will involve addition of pharmacy automation equipment and additional pharmacy program requirements.

The pharmacy design projects will center around state-of-the-art ISO 7 compounding suites, with both hazardous compounding and non-hazardous compounding.

Pharmacy design services for these projects will include: pharmacy programming, pharmacy planning, pharmacy design, and pharmacy equipment planning.

New USP 797 Compliant State-of-the-Art Pharmacy for Prominent Teaching Hospital in New York Completed

Pharmacy design architect Bernstein & Associates, Architects (http://bernarch.com/Healthcare-Design-Pharmacy/) is pleased to announce that a new inpatient pharmacy design that was designed by Bernstein & Associates, Architects, for a prominent New York teaching hospital, has been completed. The hospital size is over 700 beds. The project was a complete gut renovation of existing hospital space to create a completely new, state-of-the-art, inpatient hospital pharmacy.

Pharmacy design consulting services included: pharmacy programming, pharmacy planning, pharmacy design, and pharmacy equipment planning.

The project included all new: receiving/storeroom, distribution, USP 797 compliant compounding suite, compounding lab, purchasing, administrative support, and staff support.

Another feature of the pharmacy was the extensive use of pharmacy automation equipment.
